You’re confusing the AI Engines
😅ChatGPT and Perplexity are reading your store from two different books, and more!

Hello! You've arrived at What Actually Works 🤓
We break down the real strategies, decisions, and plays that actually move the needle in your marketing, and here it for today.
😅ChatGPT And Perplexity Are Reading Your Store From Two Different Books
A surprising number of stores have already done the hard work. Product pages are well written, SEO is in place, and the catalog is organized properly. Then someone asks ChatGPT for a product recommendation, and the brand is nowhere to be found.
The immediate assumption is that the content isn’t good enough. In many cases, the content was never the problem. The platform simply wasn’t reading the same data.
ChatGPT and Perplexity don’t discover products the same way

A store can be perfectly optimized for one and invisible to the other.
Submitting a Bing Merchant Center feed isn’t an SEO task. It’s a data submission requirement. If that feed doesn’t exist or hasn’t been maintained, ChatGPT Shopping has very little structured product data to work with, regardless of how strong the product page is.
Perplexity has the opposite problem.
It crawls the open web, but it relies on structured Product Schema to understand what’s actually being sold. Price, availability, ratings and specifications need to be presented as structured data, not hidden inside paragraphs of copy.
Run two simple checks this week
You don’t need an expensive platform to identify the biggest issues.
Check 1: Bing Merchant Center
- Confirm the product feed is live.
- Make sure it hasn’t failed or stopped syncing.
- Verify your highest-selling products are included.
Check 2: Product Schema
Open the source code of your ten highest-revenue product pages and search for Product schema.
If it isn’t there, AI systems are forced to infer key product information instead of reading it directly.
An audit of 2,400 Shopify product pages last quarter found that only 9% contained the structured product data these AI platforms actually depend on. For many stores, the biggest visibility problem isn’t content quality. It’s missing infrastructure.
Then worry about freshness
Only after feed health and schema are in place does content freshness become the next competitive advantage.
AI shopping platforms are refreshing what they surface much faster than traditional SEO teams are accustomed to. A page updated once every quarter can spend much of its life competing with newer information.
That’s one of the key findings explored in AirOps’ State of AEO 2026 report, including benchmarks around content freshness, citations, and AI search visibility. You can get the report here.
Feed quality gets your products into consideration. Structured data helps AI understand them. Freshness determines whether they stay visible.
Partnership with Insense
Combining UGC with paid ads gave Maty's 12x more reach. Here's the mechanic.

Most brands treat organic content and paid ad creative as two separate jobs, different briefs, different creators, twice the work for what's really one story.
Insense is built for both sides: source creators for organic content, and once a piece is already proving itself, repurpose it into paid ad creative through Partnership Ads or Spark Ads no new sourcing cycle, just activating what's already working.
Maty's used exactly this: creator content that ran organically and was repurposed into TikTok Spark Ads lifted reach 12x, with a 4x higher CTR than branded content alone.
Source from 100,000+ vetted creators, get content back with lifetime content usage rights, and go from brief to delivered assets in weeks.
Trusted by Strawberry.me, Bending Spoons, Wellhub, PetLabCo, and 3,500+ brands are using Insense to make organic and paid work together, not separately.
