Not everything broken needs fixing

đŸ«  Especially not the campaign designed to fail your own dashboard, and more!

Hello! You've arrived at What Actually Works đŸ€“

We break down the real strategies, decisions, and plays that actually move the needle in your marketing, and here it for today.

đŸ«  Not everything broken needs fixing

At first glance, a Zombie campaign looks broken.

Anyone reviewing the account for the first time would probably assume something needs fixing.

That’s exactly what makes the tactic easy to kill.

The campaign isn’t designed to spend its budget. It’s designed to spend only when the auction briefly becomes unusually favorable, and ignore everything else.

Low spend is the filter, not the problem

A Zombie campaign relaunches fatigued creative inside a fresh CBO with a cost cap set at roughly half the account’s average CPA.

The objective isn’t steady delivery. It’s selective delivery.

Every conversion that clears such a strict threshold represents an opportunity the broader account would probably have ignored because the campaign simply refuses to participate unless the economics make sense.

Why dashboards misread it

Most campaigns are evaluated using the same mental checklist.

Viewed through a normal pacing report, the campaign appears unhealthy. Viewed through its actual objective, it’s behaving exactly as intended.

That’s why these campaigns often get “fixed” long before they’ve had a chance to prove their value.

Why it has to be a new campaign

Simply lowering the cost cap inside an existing campaign doesn’t achieve the same result.

The original campaign has already learned where to compete. Over time, delivery concentrates within a familiar section of the auction where the creative has already been shown repeatedly.

Launching a new campaign resets that learning process.

The aggressive cost cap then acts as a filter, allowing delivery only when the platform finds inventory that still clears the target. You’re not asking Meta to spend more efficiently inside the same environment. You’re giving it another chance to discover a different one.

Protect the campaign from the wrong KPI

The biggest threat to this tactic usually isn’t the auction.

It’s the reporting process.

Name the campaign clearly. Document that limited spend is intentional. Exclude it from automated pacing alerts designed for campaigns expected to spend predictably.

Otherwise, someone trying to improve the dashboard may remove the very condition that makes the campaign valuable.

The same principle extends beyond fatigued creative.

Any idea you’re interested in testing, but not yet ready to fund aggressively, can benefit from the same approach. A tightly capped campaign won’t spend much, but every dollar it does spend has already passed an unusually high efficiency threshold, making the learning far more valuable than the budget itself.

How Kulin Found a 2X ROAS Ad in Two Weeks

Finding creators becomes painfully slow when the brief requires a very specific profile. Manual searching can consume hours before production even starts.

Kulin Co faced exactly this problem. Its two-person creative team needed female beauty creators aged 40+ for an upcoming paid campaign.

Insense gave the team a faster way to find them. Kulin filtered from 100,000+ vetted creators across 35+ countries by age, location, niche, and profile, then managed briefs and product shipping through the same platform.

Final UGC arrived within two weeks.

Kulin turned the raw footage into six paid ads, and the campaign achieved 2X ROAS.

No matter how specific the brief, Insense helps you find the right creator, and the first applications can arrive within 48 hours, and get content with lifetime usage rights.

Over 3500 brands like Strawberry.me, Bending Spoons, Wellhub, and PetLabCo trust Insense to make organic and paid work together, not separately.

Book a strategy call by August 14th for $200 platform credits for your first campaign!
